Summer holidays are almost here. In this post we would like to continue whetting your appetite so we are recommending 10 free apps that will help you make the most of your holidays. As we are aware that one of the most exciting things about holidays is planning them, we’ll get straight to the point:
1. Skyscanner
In just a few seconds you can find out whether there are any bargain flights from your city and the departure dates. It can also be used to book car hires and hotels. You can even sign up for price alerts and offers on flights that may be of interest to you.
2. Checkmybus
Information on more than 300 intercity coach companies in 50 countries (timetables, journey times, routes and prices).
3. Citymaps 2GO
An excellent app so that you can forget about carrying around guidebooks and notebooks full of notes and addresses of the places you want to visit. It enables you to download maps of different cities around the world, so that you can also look at them without the Internet. You can search for places (shops, restaurants, museums, etc.) that interest you from thousands of preloaded addresses and save them on lists that you create, classified by colour. You will be shown the location of a place on the map, its exact address, opening times and much more information, with the option to add your own notes about each one.
4. Citymapper
From your location, it gives you the best routes for getting to the address that you enter, as well as to choose from up to 9 methods of transport; bus, underground, bike, train, etc. What’s more, it includes maps of the public transport system in the city selected and it has an option for counting the calories you have burnt off and the money you have saved depending on the method of transport chosen. You should bear in mind that you will need an Internet connection to use this app.
5. XE
This is a currency converter that will help you calculate exchange rates between any two currencies of your choice. You’ll just have to remember to update exchange rates before you leave to obtain the most accurate amounts.
6. Yuggler
A great solution for anyone travelling with kids! Yuggler suggests the most recommendable places to visit with kids wherever you are. It gives tips according to children’s ages and that you can adapt to your kids’ tastes.
7. DogBuddy
If you do not know what to do with your dog during your holidays, this application helps you find dogsitters in your city or in your area, either for day-care or dog-boarding, and there’s also the option of coming directly to your home and just walk them. It is also useful if you want to look for sitters or walkers in the city where you go on vacation, in case you want someone to help you with your dog while you make an excursion or an trip for the whole day. You can choose the city and the kind of service you want, as well as the type of home your pet will be staying at and if whether there are other resident pets or not. Available for Apple devices.
If your “beloved mobile” gets lost or stolen, this app will help you find it, block it, set off an alarm and many other features that you will discover when you download it. Available only for Android devices.
9. Spotify
Because, who doesn’t like taking their music with them wherever they are? The premium version does not have any ads and it also enables you to listen to your favourite music without an Internet connection.
