MoraBanc has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s leading corporate sustainability initiative, reaffirming its commitment to responsible, competitive banking aligned with major social, environmental and governance challenges.

By joining the initiative, MoraBanc commits to integrating the ten principles of the UN Global Compact into its activity and strategy in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption, as well as contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a special focus on SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), SDG 13 (climate action) and SDG 17 (partnerships for the goals).

MoraBanc’s ESG Director, Mireia Maestre, participated this week in Madrid at the General Assembly of the Spanish Network of the UN Global Compact and at the subsequent event, ‘Movers de la Sostenibilidad 2026’, which brought together more than 300 companies and organizations. Maestre highlighted that “in the current context, sustainability must be understood as a key element for competitiveness and long-term value creation, driven from the highest level of companies.”

Joining the Global Compact reinforces the path MoraBanc has developed in recent years in ESG matters, through initiatives linked to sustainability, support for Andorran society, the promotion of talent, equality, financial education and responsible governance. The bank continues to advance in the integration of environmental, social and governance criteria into its financial activity and its relationship with clients, supplier companies, professional teams and society.

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact currently brings together more than 25,400 participating entities in over 160 countries and has 64 local networks. In Spain, 1,891 organisations are part of the initiative, mainly companies, making the Spanish network the third most significant in the world.
